Job Description

The Sr. Data Engineer will be responsible for driving digital innovation by leveraging innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core data assets. They will define high-level migration plans, present opportunities with cost/benefit analysis to leadership, and lead the analysis of the technology environment to recommend solutions for improvement. The role involves interpreting data, analyzing results, developing and implementing data analyses, acquiring data from primary or secondary sources, and promoting the reuse of data assets.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of data principles, patterns, processes, and practices
• Experience defining evolutionary data solutions and underlying technologies
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with SQL database design and data modeling
• Ability to analyze and organize raw data
• Knowledge of network and data security architecture
• Knowledge in at least two of the following technical disciplines: data warehousing, data management, analytics development, data science, APIs, data integration, cloud, servers and storage, and database management
• Experience building cost-effective and performance-driven solutions using elastic architectures in Microsoft Azure
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL applications on Big Data Platforms
• Experience with SSAS Tabular models, Power BI, Dataflows, and DAX
• Experience with Azure Data Platform stack: Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and Databricks
• Experience with Python, Spark, and SQL
• Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka, IBM MQ, and EventHub

Desired Previous Experience/Education

• Experience with operational data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence solutions
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; Master’s degree is a plus
• Data engineering certification (e.g., IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus
• Experience with a variety of SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data Platforms
• Experience building solutions using elastic architectures (preferably Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform)

Other Information

• Contract-to-Hire position
• 6+ years of experience required
• Pay rate: $65-$75/hr W2
• Work location: Hybrid remote in Charlotte, NC 28202
