Job Description

Our NYC-based tech client is seeking an experienced contract Web Designer to join their in-house brand studio. As part of an ambitious and multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in evolving and elevating the current website experience. Reporting to the Creative Director, you will contribute to shaping the brands story through the design of clear, compelling, and immersive web interactions. This is a long-term contract role that could go perm. This position is remote.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively evolve and elevate the current website experience.
• Design clear, compelling, and immersive web interactions.
• Define the web system, develop the design system, and shape critical customer journeys.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create clarity and alignment.
• Place the user at the center of the design conversation and work.
• Think and design systematically using Figma, leveraging all tools and capabilities.
• Work in systems, identifying threads that tie brand ideas and web experiences together.
• Communicate ideas through design explorations, experiments, and prototypes.
• Embrace emerging tools, platforms, technologies, and best practices.
• Share and build upon ideas, actively seeking collaboration and feedback.
• Maximize business impact with a scrappy and motivated approach.

Required Qualifications:

• Passionate about design, big ideas, and details.
• Experienced in crafting web projects from discovery to delivery.
• Figma expert with systematic design thinking.
• History of collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• User-centric mindset and understanding of web experiences.
• Systematic thinker, working across mediums to communicate ideas.
• Embraces emerging tools, platforms, technologies, and best practices.
• Motivated to maximize business impact with a curious mindset.
• Well-rounded creative person with strong communication and time management skills.
• 3 to 5 years of expertise in designing modern web experiences.
• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web languages.
• Deep interest in design systems and component-based systems at scale.
• Proven track record of collaborating within small teams.
• Evidence of systematic design thinking throughout project lifecycles.
• Brand mindset with excitement for telling stories in new ways.
• Understanding of accessibility and advocacy for it.
