Executive Producer is needed in London, United Kingdom.

Client: SCRUM Theatre

Location: London, UK

Contract: Full Time

Job Description

SCRUM Theatre is seeking a zappy, entrepreneurial and creative producer who’s looking for a challenging role with the opportunity for long-term growth of a full-time position. You’ll be collaborating with our collective of makers to drive forward an exciting new theatre company and charity focussed on making better theatre in better ways for the future. In an initial three-month contract, the Producer will deliver three projects integral to the launch of our tour of Twelfth Night in late 2024: an R&D week, a fundraiser, and a strategy report. If successful, the role is intended to transition after three months into a long-term Company Producer, and then to transition after a subsequent nine months into an executive role within the charity.

Requirements

This position requires a dedicated and ambitious individual with a strong background in theatre production and project management. We’re also looking for someone with a passion for collaborative processes and a principled commitment to labour ethics. We are open to applications from individuals with a range of approaches and backgrounds, not only with theatre backgrounds. Perhaps you are an events manager wanting to move into theatre. Maybe you are a management consultant who wants to open a new creative chapter. You could be a community organiser, or be working in the charity sector. We want to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a paid week of R&D towards the Company’s 2024 touring production
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a fundraiser event
  • Create a strategy document for the delivery of the Twelfth Night tour in late 2024, including timelines, budgets, and projected income streams
  • Form relationships with the whole collective, and most especially the Co-Leads and Board of Trustees

Knowledge, skills and experience

We are looking for individuals who have one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Proven professional experience with producing nationally-touring theatre in the UK
  • Proven professional experience with events management
  • Proven experience with innovative project leadership
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Production, Arts Management, or a related field

In addition, our producer must have:

  • An affinity for the mission and charitable objects of SCRUM, most especially in designing and building innovative processes for collaborative making
  • A passion for collaboration and working collectively
  • A self-driven initiative, strong organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly and independently to meet deadlines
  • An interest in the cultural and financial state of UK Theatre, and a passion for improving working conditions for artists and accessibility in performances
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience with writing contracts
  • Experience with fundraising

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working with community theatre and arts education projects
  • Experience of working with meanwhile spaces
  • A thorough network of contacts across the theatre sector
  • Experience in writing successful ACE applications
  • Working relationships with venues across the UK
  • The ability to communicate financial and specialist information to artists in an accessible way
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Mailchimp, Monday.com and forms.app

Additional Information

Closing date for applications: Friday 2nd February

Salary: £5737.50 (£150 per day, + £112.50 monthly ‘responsibility bonus’\*)

All SCRUM staff are paid the same day rate of £150p/d. Certain roles involve taking responsibility for the charity’s KPIs, therefore to reflect the higher level of labour involved, those roles receive a fixed ‘responsibility bonus’ at the end of each month. These bonuses are taken from a pool allocated by the Board, agreed together by the collective, and reviewed by the collective on a quarterly basis.
