Job Description:
Multi-Award Winning Laura I. Art Gallery is seeking a talented developer who will help us continue improving our website, deliver digital experiences for our gallery, grow sales through our e-commerce platform, and reinforce the organisation’s standing as one of the leading digital presences within the cultural sector.
Reporting to our Gallery Director, you will develop applications and features for the organisation website and other visitor-facing projects, from technical design through to production deployment.
The last year has underlined the critical importance of Laura I. Gallery’s website: a constant point of access to the artists organisation’s collections and programs, even when our gallery had to close its doors. We have an ambitious road map ahead for delivering an enhanced user experience, better tools for site editors and more tailored content to our audiences, while acting to reduce the climate impact of Laura I. Art Gallery’s digital presence.

Requirements:
- Prior art knowledge is not a requirement. We welcome applications from those who have taken unconventional career routes into tech.
- Essential Advanced WordPress & WooCommerce development skills.
- Experience using WordPress and Magento.
- Competence in Adobe Creative Suite especially Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Experience of SEO On Google analytics would be an advantage Creation of custom post types Creation of plugins/widgets written to conform with the WordPress coding standards.
- Good understanding of responsive web design Basic understanding of SEO concept
- Good experience with programming languages related to WordPress such as HTML/CSS but PHP and JavaScript/JQuery would also be desirable.
- 3+ year experience editing WordPress website content
- 3+ year experience using WordPress plugins (database and other backend services)
- Understanding of design and layout principles
- Motivated and positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to take initiative
- Strong communicator with good written and spoken English
- Natural creative flair with an exceptional eye for detail
- Ability to take initiative with excellent time management skills & multi-tasking abilities
- HTML, JavaScript and CSS knowledge/experience
- Must be a completer finisher
Other Information:
- This position is offered on a zero hours freelance contract for 1 months’ probation.
- Laura I. Art Gallery CIC is looking for a talented Front End Web Designer / Graphic Designer/Developer to work with on a per hour basis.
- The role is ideal for a freelancer who wants regular work and income (we have 2-3 days guaranteed work per week) whilst also remaining independent with other client work.
- You should have experience using Wordpress and must have very good attention to detail and natural design flair, with an understanding of basic design principles.
- This role is primarily a design and a deep back-end coding/development role and ideally suited to a design graduate with strong experience or someone who has a design-related academic background with technical knowledge in HTML, JavaScript and CSS (Some PHP knowledge/experience would be an advantage but not essential).
- You should have an exceptional web and print design work portfolio and judging criteria will largely be based on our review of your design work portfolio.
- Main tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Salary: From ÂŁ11.00 per hour
- Expected hours: 5 – 25 per week
