Job Description:

As a Senior Java Engineer at ING, you’ll be integral to developing and maintaining core banking functionalities crucial to ING’s propositions. Working in a Bus-Dev-Ops squad, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless customer experience. Responsibilities include developing microservices-based applications, contributing to architectural decisions, designing automated tests, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

• Develop microservices-based applications using Java 11+ with Spring/Spring Boot framework and databases.
• Contribute to architecture and technology choices, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Design and implement automated unit, integration, and regression tests to maintain software quality.
• Collaborate with Product Owners to interpret business requirements and deliver features with real business value.
• Ensure software security by applying updates and adhering to best practices, aiming for zero IT risk.
• Foster a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and learning from colleagues.
• Refine user stories with domain knowledge and optimize service stability and continuity.

Requirements:

• Proficient in Java development, with expertise in Java 11+, Spring/Spring Boot, Git, Maven, and databases.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and experience building scalable cloud-native applications.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Neo4J, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and Azure CI/CD pipeline.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker, Kubernetes (K8S), or OpenShift.
• Proficiency in monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus/Grafana and Elasticsearch.
• Commitment to writing secure, high-quality code and adhering to software development best practices.
• Agile mindset with experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
• Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.

• Initial 6 month contracting assignment with extension possibility.

• Salary range: €4,400.00 - €7,000.00 gross per month (depending on experience).

• Freelance possible if registered with the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands with an hourly rate of €66.00 - €80.00 gross per hour, excl. VAT
