Job Description:

We are looking for a Junior Children’s Footwear Designer to join the People International team on a freelance basis, fixed term contract. The role involves mostly remote working with access to our London showroom for customer meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the UK and China-based design teams to develop a children’s collection of footwear for customers in the UK, Europe, and US.
• Research trends, materials, colors, and trims and produce seasonal trend boards.
• Create technical product drawings for factories and customers based on new development ideas.
• Stay updated with fashion and design trends to design relevant products for our markets.
• Attend customer meetings, record minutes, and action designs accordingly.
• Collaborate with the China-based merchandising team to ensure all customer product needs are met.
• Liaise with the PD team in the far east via email & Teams throughout the development process.

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working for a retailer or footwear supplier.
• Children’s footwear design experience.
• Good knowledge of UK and international markets.
• Ability to design for customers and understand their brand identity.
• Excellent CAD and Illustrator skills and ability to work quickly.
• Practical knowledge and experience of working in China is advantageous.
