Job Description
The Instructional Designer will apply professional instructional design skills to effectively communicate course design, monitor course progress, create learning activities and assessments, and select appropriate technologies. They will support learners, instructors, and leaders in creating multimedia content, oversee production of course content, and ensure ADA compliance. The role involves deploying content on learning management platforms, including ILT and Online, by uploading, testing, maintaining, and optimizing learning activities.
The Instructional Designer will work collaboratively in a diverse environment, prioritize work assignments, conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and demonstrate diplomacy and tact in communications. Additionally, they will support the Learning Management System users by troubleshooting problems and researching solutions for improved functionality and user engagement.
Requirements
Required qualifications for the role include thorough knowledge of the functional area, strong analytical skills, excellent communication and collaboration skills, familiarity with educational technologies, and relevant business software systems. A Bachelor’s degree in a related area and at least 2 years of direct experience or equivalent training is required.
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of organizational policies, adult learning theories, and educational methodologies. Advanced skills in planning, resourcing, and monitoring training design life cycles are desired, along with the ability to conduct job and task analyses for instructional design.
Other Information
The hourly compensation range for this role is $32.08-$68.87. Candidates will be compensated based on experience, position requirements, and current salary levels at UCSF. The position is part of UCSF’s Temporary Employment Program (TEP), offering temporary employment for immediate support services.
