Job Description

The Script Editor at BBC Studios Drama Productions will work closely with the Script Producer as part of a team overseeing episodes from idea generation to shoot. Responsibilities include advising on script-related matters, managing relationships between writers and production staff, representing writers’ interests, generating creative solutions, ensuring editorial correctness, carrying out legal checks, and providing critical and creative suggestions. The role involves attending meetings, interacting with production staff, and contributing to the success of the show.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Demonstrable industry experience in script editing, preferably in TV drama series
  • Significant experience in generating creative ideas, working with writers under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of Copyright Law, Writers Guild Agreements, contracts, and legal implications for production
  • An interest in BBC Drama Production, particularly EastEnders
  • Thorough knowledge of script sources, emerging talent potential, and financial implications of editorial decisions

Package Description

Contract: 12-month Fixed-Term Contract/Attachment

Band: C

Location: Elstree

Salary: ÂŁ35,400 + London Weighting (depending on skills, knowledge, and experience)

This position may involve up to 55 hours per week.
