Job Description:

The US Campus Fall 2024 Data Science Co-op role at Sun Life offers students the opportunity to gain experience in a professional IT environment. Co-ops will work on meaningful projects, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to client-centered solutions.

As a Data Science Co-op, you will work on diverse teams, applying basic engineering and data science skills to deliver client solutions. You will have the chance to cultivate skills in data modeling, machine learning, analytics, development, testing, and governance.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role, candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college or university during the co-op period (July - December 2024)
  • Be pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Be able to work full-time (approximately 40 hours a week) during the co-op period (July - December 2024)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data science platforms such as Jupyter, RStudio, AWS Sagemaker, or Dataiku
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, Pandas, Shiny, Bokeh, and Dash
  • Knowledge of cloud computing environments, particularly in data processing and Artificial Intelligence services
  • Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Quicksight, and Thoughtspot
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of IT systems
  • Ability to work independently or in a group
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
  • Highly motivated with superior analytical and problem-solving skills

Other Information:

  • The compensation for this role will be around $24/hr
