Job Description

The Role at Unite Students involves creating a Home for Success by leveraging technology to empower students in their university journey. The organization is seeking an experienced Senior UX/UI Designer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in their Bristol office. This role is pivotal in crafting exceptional user experiences, contributing to innovative projects across internal and external digital solutions. Reporting to the Lead UX/UI Designer, the successful candidate will be part of a dedicated UX team.

The Senior UX/UI Designer will thrive on understanding users’ needs, behaviors, and emotions to inform product strategy and design. They will work closely with stakeholders and product owners, occasionally applying design thinking to define non-digital user experience flows for property experiences. This position requires independent management of multiple projects, driving UX/UI processes and methodologies, and collaborating with the UX Researcher to validate assumptions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have significant experience in UX/UI design with a strong portfolio showcasing great digital design skills. Specific requirements include:

• Proven expertise in UX principles, UI best practices, and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions.
• Experience leading discovery projects and facilitating workshops.
• Proficiency in mobile-first and responsive design, creating low- and high-fidelity prototypes.
• Skilled in UX/UI tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Protopie, OptimalSort, and Userlytics (or similar).
• Strong understanding of accessibility requirements and solutions.
• Adept at working within an Agile development environment.
• Collaborative with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript is beneficial but not required.
