Job Description
As a Tabletop & Card Game Designer at WNRS, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and refining new physical card and tabletop games. You’ll focus on developing compelling gameplay mechanics, writing engaging prompts, conducting playtesting, and ensuring feasibility for physical production. This role is specifically for tabletop and card game design, not video game design.
WNRS is a purpose-driven brand focused on deepening human connections through thought-provoking physical games, experiences, and storytelling. Our tabletop card games are designed to spark meaningful conversations and self-discovery. We’re looking for a designer to create new game experiences that challenge players to connect in innovative ways while staying true to our brand’s DNA.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new physical card and tabletop game concepts that foster deep connections and emotional storytelling.
- Create innovative gameplay mechanics that are engaging, thought-provoking, and replayable.
- Write and refine card prompts to align with the WNRS brand tone and philosophy.
- Playtest and iterate on game prototypes, incorporating internal and external feedback.
- Ensure feasibility for physical production, considering materials, costs, and scalability.
- Collaborate with creative, production, and marketing teams to bring concepts to life.
- Research trends in the tabletop gaming industry to develop unique mechanics and formats.
Requirements
- Experienced in tabletop or card game design (not video games).
- Passionate about creating socially impactful physical games.
- Strong understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and storytelling.
- Detail-oriented with an ability to balance creativity and production feasibility.
- Comfortable with playtesting, iterating, and refining prototypes.
- Open to feedback and skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Bonus Points
- Experience in narrative design, behavioral psychology, or social-driven gameplay.
- A background in board game development, publishing, or retail partnerships.
- Familiarity with game manufacturing and production processes.
Additional Information
This role is specifically intended for tabletop and card game design. Candidates with a background in physical game development (e.g., card games, board games, or other tabletop experiences) will be prioritized.
