Researched anew method to measure flow rate of a fluid, attempted using acoustic sensing. Built a soundproof box to isolate the flow of the fluid and minimize noise. Recorded characteristics of sound waves of different frequencies after passing through the pipe containing the flowing fluid. Used Arduino to receive signal and process it, subtracting noise. Output data was compared to and cross-referenced against data of standardized signals collected under ideal conditions. Output signal amplitude and frequency showed a relationship to the fluid's flow rate.
