Alexey Berezov

I’m a traditionally trained 2D background artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I treat my art practice as a continuous learning curve—starting with traditional painting, moving into digital illustration, and eventually finding my footing as a 2D layout and background painter in Toronto’s tight-knit animation industry. After moving to Halifax in 2021, I stepped into the role of Lead Background Painter, where I’ve been happily painting ever since. I’m passionate about collaboration, mentoring teammates, and delivering cohesive visual direction across projects.
