We took the intro from the series “Snowpiercer” as a starting point to develop a story about the history of machine learning and how it has improved the possibilities for language translation.
This video piece is a visual collage made from photographs, film trailers, and various cinematic images, built around the central concept of the city becoming a cinema. It explores how urban spaces transform into dynamic, immersive screens where stories unfold through light.
A significant part of the process involved capturing time-lapses to emphasize the play of light and shadow. The work reflects on how light travels through time, shaping mood and meaning—until the entire city feels illuminated by the essence of cinema.
Animation designed to promote the 4th version of the Valletta Film Festival that happened during the first weeks of June 2018
This project was a very nice opportunity to get to learn about Red Giant’s tool Particular. Given the concept of “light raining on the city” when the city is hosting a film festival. As I got the concept I understood that the best way would be with a particle system that provides physics simulation like bouncing and other dynamics. It was also lovely to come to valletta over night to photograph it when it’s completely empty and silent.
It took me a few months to develop this project (around 6/7 months) from the research, development and execution. One of the key words - History - was the starting point to work and also - Timeline - from there I understood the treatment I wanted to give to the timeline with a camera panning from left to right revealing the different times in history together with artwork that were created at each epoch.
