Problem Statement
In 2020, Brother recognized that in the industrial printing sector, digital services would become a crucial competitive advantage alongside world-class hardware. To stay ahead, Brother aimed to create a digital Industry 4.0 platform that connects physical products with digital services, unlocks new revenue streams, and drives more sustainable on-demand printing solutions.
It became clear that success would depend not only on robust technical functionality, but also on delivering an outstanding user experience. The challenge was to design an intuitive, user-centric product that seamlessly connected physical printing devices with digital services, unlocked new business opportunities, and embodied Brother’s brand values. With limited internal UX/UI resources available at the time, Brother needed to rapidly launch a high-quality solution that offered both functional excellence and a compelling digital experience, without becoming overly dependent on external vendors, while simultaneously laying the foundation for an in-house development team to sustainably build and operate the platform as a strategic pillar of Brother’s digital transformation.…Introduction
