Hi, I’m Rachel Gering, an award-winning painter based in Portland, Oregon. My work explores themes of travel and memory, drawing inspiration from both places I’ve experienced firsthand and those I dream of visiting. I graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Painting from Willamette University | PNCA in 2022, and my artistic journey has long been shaped by a fascination with the intersection of science and art. I’ve found solace in painting from a young age, and over time it has become an essential means of self-expression and healing—especially following a traumatic brain injury. Through my work, I transport myself to imagined and remembered places, capturing atmosphere, emotion, and a sense of place. I work across a wide range of materials, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, glow-in-the-dark pigments, and pastels. In addition to my studio practice, I’m an art educator who is passionate about sharing knowledge and empowering others through creativity. I teach, create educational content, and run a YouTube channel dedicated to providing free art education, where I guide and encourage aspiring artists as they explore their own creative paths.
