Arwa Alobaid is a Saudi composer based between Riyadh and London. Her work spans a variety of mediums, including instrumental and vocal concert music, electroacoustic pieces, and music for screen. Arwa’s music draws inspiration from musical minimalism, intricate rhythmic structures, and global folk traditions. Her concert works have been premiered in both Riyadh and London, and she has participated in a wide range of ensembles, including choir, chamber string orchestra, Byzantine chant, Javanese Gamelan, and Brazilian percussion. In 2022, she represented Saudi Arabia as a violinist in the G20 orchestra initiative in Indonesia. Arwa studied composition with Dr. Newton Armstrong, Claudia Molitor, and Dr. Tullis Rennie at City, University of London, where she graduated with first-class honors and received the 'Overall Achievement in Music' prize twice. She is also an Avid Certified Instructor for Pro Tools and has studied orchestration at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Additionally, she attended a workshop with Oscar-winning sound designer John Warhurst. Beyond concert music, Arwa enjoys writing about musical analysis and contributes to Adagioclassical.com, a platform dedicated to enriching Arabic content on Western classical music.
