I began my career in Bristol with the award-winning BBC series Smalltalk Diaries and was an early pioneer in using Red One cameras for nature documentaries. In 2008 I built, designed and operated multirotor drones, expanding the reach of my cinematography. I’ve since shot in Latin America for BBC Planet Earth II, NatGeo Wild and Arte, produced and edited features for NHK Japan, and created award-winning shorts like Spider Monkey For Sale. I also filmed corporate and branded productions for clients such as BMW, Booking.com and ABN Amro. At Ateles we love pushing creative and technical boundaries, from fast content and drone-enabled aerials to long-form natural history storytelling for feature length cinema. My work includes the filming of half of De Nieuwe Wildernis (one of the Netherlands’ biggest cinema nature films), and I’ve contributed to projects for NHK, France 5 and ServusTV, with recent work such as A Wild Fox Life and Hidden Nature of Holland. For me, every project is an opportunity to engage audiences, whether on the big screen or in a corporate context, and I’m always excited to tell compelling stories through image, sound and craft.
