About

August Thomson is a recent graduate from BCIT, looking to work as a 3D Rigging Artist. Similar to the
way a marionette puppet comes to life with strings and a handle, a character model in the world of 3D
computer graphics relies on a Rigger to build these digital strings and handles.

August has experience in rigging robots, bipedal characters, quadrupeds, and coding rigging tools using
python. He has worked with other 3D artists on student projects for small games and animations.

August has attended Okanagan collage, Vancouver Island University and BCIT. August’s exceptional work
ethic has been developed through his various roles in hospitality and silviculture work.
August grew up sculpting characters out of any clay he could get his hands on. He would create
characters from the films and video games he grew up watching and playing. His love of these films sent
him to Weta Workshop in New Zealand to see the inner workings of such a renown industry. After being
inspired by Weta he began rigging, digital sculpting and 3D printing which motivated him to pursue an education in 3D computer graphics.

August's Rigging Demo-Reel Credit All Rigs were done bu August Thomson Marco Macabenta did the first pass on the Dreadnought Mech walk cycle. The background assets and textures are from Unreal Engine market place. The Dreadnought model was modeled by Riley Harper. The Cartoon head was modeled by Makar Malicki and can be purchased on Turbosquid. The Biped Robot was modeled by Luigi Russo and background assets of scene were from unreal market place.
