Drawing is like entering a dream world where anything can be created. I was born Begoña Landi Pienaar in South Africa in 1970, from a South African mother and a Spanish father. When I was 9 years old we moved to Spain and there I grew up. Ten years ago I moved to the south of Portugal to live. I draw and paint since I can remember, and always had a wild imagination. I use to spend hours in my own dream world. Naturally my imaginary world would come to life in my drawings. However, when I grew up and began to create art for selling I did what most painters do, landscapes, portraits, animals, still lives,... Until a friend of mine asked me to do some illustrations for a children's book she wanted to write, and the magic came back and flew once more through my art. Illustrating for children's books brought back those beautiful drawings that reflected my dream world, and the love and tenderness that they inspire me. Since then I have illustrated for several other authors. All the stories had something that I really liked. Some were great stories, some were really fun, some I illustrated because of their sweetness. And along the way I wrote two books myself and illustrated them of course. For my children's illustrations I use colour pencils and sometimes watercolours or acrylics. Some of the books I have illustrated are: According to Aunt, by Yvonne Provost, not published The monkey that vacuumed the jungle, by Nina Spitzer, self published through Amazon. The star people of Isabella, by Karen Heins, self published through Amazon. My best friend lives under my bed, by Dennise Dion, soon to be published. I Miei Primi 10 Passi , by Ingrid Pagliarulo, self published through amazon. And my own two books, What a journey! From all that was to all that is, and Isabel and her magic land. A couple of testimonials: Ingrid Pagliarulo: Begoña True is the artist I have collaborated with. She has immediately has got what I asked for and she has created wonderful illustrations for my work. There are no words to describe how much I do appreciate her art, her sensibility and her whole work. Thank you so much Begoña, I look forward to collaborate with you very soon. Karen Heins: "It has been an awesome and amazing journey with Begoña as my illustrator!!!!!! I have had many problematic challenges with previous illustrators and was unable to create the book I wanted. In contrast, my experience with Begoña was outstanding. She is very professional, reliable and motivated. She listens to and honours what you want. Her artistic style is brilliant and awesome. The result is beautiful, colourful, thoughtful and inviting pictures for children to enjoy. I am very pleased with her work and I highly recommend her."
