Hello, My name is Joy McCue, also known as Boobie the Illustrator. I’m an Austin, TX–based illustrator and muralist with a strong focus on expressive line work, character-driven imagery, and bold visual storytelling. My work often explores texture, pattern, negative space, and playful disproportion, creating pieces that feel energetic, narrative, and rooted in contemporary culture. I draw inspiration from music, street fashion, pop culture, and my surroundings, and I’m especially interested in projects within music, album artwork, poster design, character development, and commercial illustration. My experience creating both illustration and large-scale murals has shaped my ability to design impactful visuals that translate across formats — from intimate print pieces to immersive public environments. I work across a range of traditional and digital mediums, including ink, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, wood burning, and digital illustration. I enjoy collaborating with creative teams and clients to develop distinctive visuals that support brand identity, storytelling, and cultural connection.
