When I left my working-class hometown in Western Pennsylvania for a liberal arts college to chase an unlikely American dream, I could never have imagined just how far that leap of faith would take me.
Since then, my design hand has touched some of the most recognizable visual artifacts of our time — bringing bullseye-embellished Target gift cards to fruition, polishing Lightning McQueen’s legendary flame decals for the Cars franchise, generating a premium palette of metallic patterns for Visa’s affluent cards, embedding a hint of icy-blue magic into the timeless Coca-Cola script for a thermo-ink fridge pack, and developing a suite of shorthand icons using Amazon’s ubiquitous smile arrow.
This diverse body of work has carried me across industries, art forms, and disciplines.
Starting in my 20s, my first creative job at a Pittsburgh marketing agency connected me with brands like Heinz, the Pirates, and Transitions Lenses. Later, as an intern for Target’s in-house creative studio, I contributed to retail and marketing initiatives for the trend-setting mass merchandiser.
By 26, I’d completed my MFA in Graphic Design and accepted a full-time position at Pixar Animation Studios. Five years and six feature films later, I’d generated thousands of graphic assets that helped bring the studio’s imaginary worlds to life — designs I still catch glimpses of on in-flight entertainment screens, in children’s books, and on apparel, no matter how far off the beaten path I travel.
I spent my early 30s as a Lead Designer at Turner Duckworth, an award-winning agency known for creating unmistakable visual identity systems and iconic packaging for global brands. There, I developed brand strategy, sustainable and conventional packaging, and marketing communications for companies like Visa, Coca-Cola, Google, Johnson’s, Oreo, Samsung, Xfinity, Leo Burnett, and Amazon
More recently, I’ve built an independent practice supporting ventures of every size — including made-to-last clothing lines, holistic health educators, and bioplastic engineers. Every design challenge still humbles me as I strive to provide my clients with the level of visual clarity, coherence, and confidence I once helped deliver to some of the world’s most recognizable brands.
Each chapter of my career has expanded my multidisciplinary creative toolkit — from brand identity and strategy, systems thinking, writing and storytelling to packaging and product design, user interface design, and motion graphics. I’d love the opportunity to bring this same range and caliber of creative support to your project.
