The Ache of Becoming

This is a concept art inspired by my original poem “The Ache of Becoming”.
“The Ache of Becoming”
The world has aged again
and so have I
I have lived a thousand different lives
Sometimes I die, sometimes I thrive
Walked through paths unknown
No weapon to wield, naked and alone
Without certainty of victory
Freezing in cold, I gambled,
Praying that fortune favors me
Grew a pair of wings to fly
I soared over mountains and watched myself fall
As rusty knives plummeted from the sky
Defenseless, I caught them all
Stitched these wounds on my own
Shed every tear it took for this flower to grow
I have become fond of sorrow
A familiar voice from someone I used to know
Borrowed fading light slipping from cracks in my home
Lost in the places I once fought so hard to roam
Sought for answers in blank pages,
Staring at the horizon as my name changes
The world has taken more than I can count
but it was kind enough to give me a chance
I paid the cost of my ignorance
Drowned in deep doubt, but somehow crawled my way out
Once again, I lived to tell the tale
The world has aged for the thousandth time,
and so have I.
