Chris Kets is a Documentary Filmmaker based between the UK and South Africa. His early work focused on subculture in South Africa. Having worked with a wide array of artists over his career - his music video and documentaries on the early Gqom music scene in South Africa became part of a permanent display at London’s Museum of design on the history of electronic music. Chris developed and is creative director of Third Space (2021 - present) at Boiler Room, a multi-episode project that tells the story of emerging musical subcultures from the Global South. Chris’ recent short films include “Freedom Sounds: From Kwaito to AmaPiano” for Spotify (2022) and “6SENSE” (2024) which premiered at the Encounters Documentary festival in 2024. He is currently in Post-Production on his first feature film Notes from the Underground, which recently attended Cannes Docs in 2024 as a Spotlighted project.
