Derek van Bokhorst

Hello! My name is Derek, and I am a curious and creative musicologist who likes to understand what moves people.
I am especially drawn to music, media, and culture because they say so much about who we are and how we connect with each other. I enjoy looking deeper into things, whether that means analyzing music and media, playing piano, or simply exploring new ideas and experiences. What matters to me is authenticity, curiosity, and staying open to growth. I like learning by immersing myself in something and finding both the meaning and the feeling behind it. During periods of loneliness, music became a vital medium through which I communicated with myself, using the piano as a tool for reflection and emotional processing.
