Daniel Inzani is a composer for film, pianist and band leader based in Stroud, UK. For the past 2 decades Inzani has performed with dozens of bands and ensembles from Bristol’s underground alternative and avant-garde scene, blending classical, jazz, contemporary and improvisation as a composer, band leader and collaborator. After years of recording, touring and composing he gathered a trusted set of musicians who are both skilled improvisers and virtuoso players to record a large new body of work as his first major solo release: Selected Worlds. The critically acclaimed triple vinyl album was co-released by Hidden Notes Records and Tardigrade Records in September 2024, receiving a 5 star review by The Guardian, who listed it as Contemporary Album of the Month and No.4 Contemporary Album of 2024. Tour dates included performances at St George’s concert hall (Bristol), KOKO (London), Jazz Stroud festival and an immersive soundscape performance in collaboration with d&b audiotechnik at WOMAD festival with an 11 piece ensemble. His music has been featured on various BBC radio programmes including shows by Iggy Pop, Giles Peterson, Gideon Coe, Soweto Kinch, Hannah Peel, Stuart Maconie, Deb Grant and Zakia Sewell. He has toured worldwide as a session pianist, performing at various venues, festivals and appearing on TV and radio shows including BBC Radio 2 live sessions at Maida Vale studios and The Graham Norton show. He works regularly as a musical director and arranger for Cosmo Sheldrake, has released an avant-garde collaborative album named The Jester with Alabaster dePlume, leads his own critically acclaimed modern chamber quartet Spindle Ensemble and (the now disbanded) 8 piece Ethiopian Jazz meets Frank Zappa group Tezeta Inzani co-founded Bristol’s experimental collective Bloom, leading to tours and releases with UK rocksteady favourites Count Bobo, the psychedelic space doo-wop of Dubi Dolzcek and many more. He has also collaborated on new works with Canadian ensembles Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan and London Symphonia. Since moving to Stroud in 2020, he became involved with Hidden Notes Festival and subsequently co-founded Hidden Notes Records who release a selection of contemporary music. Inzani scored his first feature length film soundtrack for a documentary named Our Land, which premiered at Sheffield International Documentary Festival 2025 and had its international festival at DOC NYC. The film explores the debate around access to nature in England and Wales through the perspectives of the Right To Roam campaign, fighting for greater access to the countryside and the landowners who claim to be stewards of the land.
