My name is Emanuel Aboghe da Costa Oliveira (by the way, “Aboghe” is pronounced “Aboguê”). To friends and colleagues, I’m Manu.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a prisoner of my own creativity, but in a good way. When I was a kid, I used to create detailed stories with my toys - I gave them names, ages, even mental traits. As an only child, I found entertainment in these fantasies I engineered for myself.
Over the years, I discovered new ways to express my feelings through other creative acts like music, writing, and videography. I dove headfirst into all of it, starting to explore many things within those realms.
This mix of passions led me to a degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia, a music career spanning over 5 years as a musician, producer, and songwriter, and other smaller training experiences in sound and video.
Today, I see myself as an experienced creative - not because of the courses I took, but because of the countless hours spent creating and collaborating with others. I’m the result of a blend of learning passed on to me organically, outside the academic context, and of values I absorbed through both positive and negative experiences.

This project comes from a first collaboration between my alter ego, Manu Aboghe, and my friend J. Kas. Together, we created a sonically sweet track, where a crispy and fresh mix blends perfectly with a classic jazzy boom bap beat produced by Diggie.
For the music video, I handled the entire direction process, video editing, design, and sound design. The filming and color grading were done by Thiago Salama and João Cunha, respectively.
It was a project I truly enjoyed working on and one that marks yet another where I was involved in the full production - from sound, to video, to visual design.

In this project, Mike Trilla approached me because he was captivated by the direction I took in a music video for my alter ego, “Manu Aboghe.” He told me he wanted me to shoot and direct one of his future videos. As soon as I heard the track, I had tons of ideas - within a month, I had put together a detailed file with the full structure, everything planned down to the tiniest detail. I handed it to him, he was super pleased, and we moved straight into filming.
This video clip is heavily inspired by film noir and carries a strong sense of symbolism throughout!
