    uniE608 Helen Gallogly Textile Artist
Helen is a visual artist specialising in textiles and surface pattern, producing screen-printed and mixed media works exhibited in gallery and site-specific contexts. Her practice is deeply rooted in storytelling, drawing inspiration from folk tales, ghost stories, historic buildings, museum collections, and found objects. Through layered research and material exploration, she builds narrative threads within her designs, forming inventive visual responses that encourage audiences to see new connections between objects, histories, and spaces. Working from her studio in Comrie, Perthshire, Helen’s upbringing — surrounded by antiques and second-hand furniture — continues to inform her fascination with memory, objects, and the atmosphere of past eras. In creating this video, my focus was to translate the tactile quality and narrative depth of her work into a compelling visual story. I documented her process, studio environment, and the finer material details of her textiles, shaping the footage in post-production to reflect the layered, research-driven nature of her practice. The final film captures both the intimacy of her making process and the wider context behind her work, presenting a thoughtful portrait of an artist deeply connected to history and place.
    uniE608 Helen Gallogly Workshop
In a second project, I filmed one of the live textile workshops led by Helen Gallogly, focusing on the interaction between Helen and participants. Working within a real-time, hands-on environment required an intuitive approach to filming — anticipating moments of engagement, capturing authentic exchanges, and documenting the tactile process without disrupting the flow of the session. In post-production, I structured the footage to clearly communicate the workshop’s educational value while preserving the immersive, creative atmosphere. Through considered pacing and narrative framing, I ensured the final edit balanced clarity, energy, and emotional connection. Across both projects, I managed the full production process — from filming through to editing — delivering cohesive, story-led content that reflects Helen’s artistic identity while producing professional, audience-ready films suitable for promotion, documentation, and client engagement.
