Francisco Preto (Lisbon, 1996) is a sound artist, music producer and DJ. Founder of OMWAVES, he develops projects that cross sound, space and community, focusing on music production, sound design and field recording practices. His transdisciplinary approach integrates music, performing arts and artistic education, with a strong component of sound experimentation. Throughout his career, he has produced sound for institutional projects such as the celebration of INESC-ID's 20th anniversary and campaigns for MediaBrands, as well as collaborating with Boom Festival 2018 and the Waking Life festival. He also develops educational activities through music, in projects such as Criativar (EB1 Santa Clara and EB1 do Castelo), Escola Lá Fora's ‘Primavera Lá Fora’ initiative, and Rádio Pavão. With a degree in Musical Sciences (FCSH-UNL) and specialisations in sound studio, cultural management and emergency pedagogy, Francisco combines technical rigour with a strong artistic sensibility. He has worked in research and preservation of contemporary sound heritage in projects such as ‘Processos Arquivados’ and ‘Ecos no Castelo’. At the same time, he is a DJ and producer in the BLACKYARD project, where he explores urban, electronic and experimental aesthetics, reflecting his deep connection to underground culture. He has mastered various digital tools for sound creation and performance, including Logic Pro X, Serato DJ and Rekordbox. His practice is characterised by active listening to space and communities, using sound as a means of creation, communication and social .
