Production and mixing of Sepia Jazz Band’s rendition of “La Vie en Rose.” This Ecuadorian group blends jazz with gypsy jazz influences, reimagining boleros and classics with their own unmistakable style.
The setup is simple: double bass, two guitars, and vocals. My job was to make that quartet sound big, warm, and organic, honoring the chemistry between the musicians and that bohemian vibe they’re known for. Each instrument gets its moment to shine, all wrapped in a mix that transports you to a candlelit café.
This project involved the production, mixing, and mastering of a live session recorded at the iconic Radio City, featuring artist Alex Eugenio, known as “El Romántico de la Perla.”
The main challenge of this session was to capture and preserve the intimate essence that defines Alex: his music in its purest form — just his guitar and voice — as he has always been characterized. Far from seeking a dense production, the focus was on transparency and warmth, ensuring that every note and vocal nuance conveyed the same emotion felt during a live performance in front of an audience.
The mixing and mastering process was designed to create an immersive experience, transporting the listener directly to a seat at Radio City. Work was done on spatial depth, guitar clarity, and vocal presence, while respecting the natural dynamics of the live performance. The final result is a piece that is not just heard, but felt, keeping alive the personal connection that Alex Eugenio establishes with his audience.
Ceci’s music comes from a deeply personal place—heartbreak, self-doubt, and the constant struggle with oneself. For this session, we went with a simple yet powerful setup: bass, a small drum kit, guitar, and vocals. No frills, no distractions. Just Ceci Juno and her music. This is “Arde”
