This was the role in which I cut my teeth in the industry. I worked both alongside other GFX Designers and ran the department solo, overseeing scheduling, workflow and department liaison. As part of the post-production pipeline, my duties covered everything from initial ideas with the director to final technical output and delivery to the channel.
Creatively, I would pitch and develop the look of the graphics for a series, honing it to both the director’s vision and pushing forward with my own concepts. Personally, innovating a GFX package so that it fits into a modern catalogue, while having its own unique identity is my favourite aspect. I would do this by combining cutting-edge graphic styles with the more traditional aspects producers demand when aiming for a blue chip feel. Achieving this requires more than just visuals, but communication solutions which help producers/clients articulate exactly what it is they’re looking for.
