Born in Bologna in 1985, Gaia Baldini is a television writer and screenwriter. She graduated in Communications and Marketing in Bologna, she collaborated with local newspapers then moved to Milan to work at the PR company Karla Otto. In 2009 she moved to New York where she graduated in filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. For two years she lived there, took part in film sets, worked alongside Paul HO in the program “Gallery Beat”, and collaborated with the Nyehaus art gallery, for which she became a correspondent at the Venice Biennale. She is the author of several short films, including “YOU_The Ballad of the Lost Sounds” and “Exile”, presented at international festivals. In 2013 she wrote the feature screenplay “Acqua & Sale” for Dinamo Film.
At the same time, she serves as assistant director, screenwriter, and editor at the New York Film Academy, located at its Italian headquarters in Florence. Since 2014 she has collaborated with the production Todos Contentos Y Yo Tambien for Sky Arte and other Italian channels. Here she was part of the editorial team for “On the Road, Joe Bastianich Music Tour”, wrote the television teen drama “Clara, Fashion Dream” and wrote the original documentary “William Kentridge, Triumphs and Laments” directed by Giovanni Troilo, selected at the Rome Film Festival and screened in 50 museums around the world.
In 2016, she won the MiBAC ministerial call for the development of the original screenplay ”Le Paradis C’est Ici”, a project that won the Friuli Venezia Giulia development fund in 2017. In the same year, for La7, she wrote the documentaries “Missoni” and “Zegna” on the excellence of Made in Italy and worked on the conception of the documentary “Il mago - Crazy family business” selected at the “In Progress” Workshop of the Milan Film Network and supervised by the French production ”Hold Up Films”.
In 2018, for the production Good Day Films, she signed the documentary “Being Missoni, Memories from the future” broadcasted on Sky Arte. In 2019 she wrote the screenplay for the film “Discesa Libera” for the Dinamo Film production and won, alongside director Giovanni Troilo, the POP UP Film Residency at the “When East Meets West” of the Trieste Film Festival.
In 2022 she won the MiBACT fund for the development of the original screenplay “What a Woman!”. In 2023 she wrote the story for “Stupor Mundi” directed by Giovanni Troilo and in 2024 she completed the writing of her first novel “Avanzi di Famiglia” represented by the literary agent Massimiliano Zantedeschi.
In 2025, for the production company FourToFour, she was lead writer of the fictional feature film inspired by L.L. Zamenhof, founder of Esperanto. Then she collaborated with the communications agency Superhumans and co-wrote the documentary “Planetaria” dedicated to the art and science festival directed by Stefano Accorsi.
She recently completed a rewriting of the screenplay “Valgo quel che valgo”, a narrative documentary currently in production.
