Glenn Forbes is a Toronto-based screenwriter, film director, producer and emerging novelist. As a screenwriter, he was a winner of the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition; a semifinalist in the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting; winner of the Bloodlist; and was awarded a Telefilm Canada New Voices/Golden Quill Award as one of Canada's top emerging screenwriters. In addition to several spec screenplays, he has completed feature film screenplay and TV pilot assignments/work-for-hires such as: the horror screenplays Inhuman, Albion, and Twitches Get Stitches; the slasher script Burning Lake; a science fiction TV series The Clear Conspiracy; an alien invasion film, Medusa; the crime thrillers The Man Who Forgot and Crime Denied; and the action thrillers Colombia Run, The Blue Whale and End of the Beginning. His feature film screenplay adaptation of the Bill Scott memoir, The Day Lacey Called, was released in the fall of 2022. An award-winning filmmaker, he has written, produced and directed several short films including the science fiction film Amplifier and the comedy Masterpiece Monday, which was supported by the Canadian Film Centre's Short Film Screenplay Award, and the $100,000 OMDC (Ontario Media Development Corp.) Calling Card grant. His films have been recognized at international film festivals, streamed and broadcast around the world. He has twice served on the Canadian Screen Awards/Genie Awards nominating committee (Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television). As a producer/director he has created content for many global brands and governments, steering creative and production for commercials, documentaries, music videos, brand films, and educational content. Continually pushing to innovate and inspire audiences, has filmed across Canada and around the world, including Singapore, Russia, Malaysia, the U.S. and China. He has also taught scriptwriting and production at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). The Wreckage, based on his Bloodlist-winning feature film screenplay, is his first novella. It was runner up in the 2025 Book Pipeline Unpublished Competition (Mystery/Thriller). Additional unpublished work includes his debut psychological thriller novel, The Future Prime, and a collection of short genre stories, Twisted Lights and Dark Bites.
