Renowned director James Gunn has treated fans to a promising update on the eagerly anticipated second season of “Peacemaker.” Gunn, who has been immersed in the creative process since October, recently shared on Threads that the season is “over halfway written,” building up anticipation for what’s to come.
Responding to inquiries from fans about his extensive workload, especially with his new role as the co-boss of DC Studios, Gunn mentioned that, at the moment, he is focusing solely on writing “Peacemaker” Season 2. This revelation came alongside Gunn’s preparations for his upcoming Superman movie, “Legacy,” featuring David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
Scheduled to delve into the Peacemaker narrative right after completing the Superman project, Gunn expressed his dedication to the fan-favorite character. “Peacemaker’s coming back right after Superman. That’s my next thing,” he confirmed during an episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast in June.
“Peacemaker,” which made its debut two years ago, centers around John Cena’s titular character, first introduced in the 2021 film “The Suicide Squad.” The show swiftly secured a second season due to its positive reception. Gunn expressed his joy at creating “Peacemaker” and conveyed his eagerness for audiences to witness the direction Team Peacemaker takes in the upcoming season.
