Hi, I'm Ian Ellul, a dedicated Maltese violinist. I started playing the violin at eight and spent eight years studying with Lydia Micallef Sanchez at the Johann Strauss School of Music, then continued under Mario Bisazza, earning the Violin Diploma ABRSM. In December 2017 I began studying with Agnieszka Kuzma, and I have been a member of the Malta Youth Orchestra since December 2012. I have also performed with the Hvitfeldtska Musikgymnasiet Symphony Orchestra in Malta, joined the Junior College Orchestra in October 2015, and took part in a festival in Martigues, France in May 2016. I have participated in masterclasses with Carmine Lauri, Gyorgy Lakatos, Yuri Zhislin, Mauro Tortorelli, and Karen Shahgaldyan, among others. In 2016 I attended BISYOC in Ludlow, UK. I was an intern with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons and later joined MPO for orchestral tours in America, Russia and Italy. I studied for five academic years at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Kowalski and earned my Masters degree with distinction. Beyond performance, I value collaboration, education, and sharing music with diverse audiences.
