As a Freelance Designer, Artist, and Consultant, I have helped bring creative visions to life across both traditional and digital mediums. Recently, I had the privilege of collaborating with authors on children’s books: Buffelumphs! The Elephants Under the Bed, The Story of the Mystery Itch, and The Vowels Story. My role involved character and scene development, hand-drawn illustrations, digital color processing, and layout design to create a cohesive and engaging visual narrative. With an extensive career in the graphic design field, I have worked on ad campaigns for everything from major motion pictures to album covers for alternative underground musicians—from concept to completion, ensuring that the project turns out well, on time and on budget. As a life-long learner, I am also an Adjunct Professor who provides technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to diverse students. Although I come from an offset printing background, I am a firm believer in the power of evolving alongside new and rapidly changing technologies. My MFA thesis in Interaction & UI/UX Design, with an emphasis on Augmented Reality and 3D printing, has allowed me to research trends in design and art. I have presented virtually to the Society of Children’s Books Writer’s and Illustrators (SCBWI) about “The Future of Graphic Novels” discussing the new advances in graphic novels, interactive capabilities, and AR. I bring with me a comprehensive understanding of both digital and traditional design practices, and expertise in various aspects of both the print and digital industries, including offset 4/C printing, 3D printing, AR/VR technologies, Adobe Software design tools, and UI/UX mobile device industries. As an Illustrator, I understand the importance of storytelling through compelling illustrations and designs that help move the story along. It is important to make the reader excited to turn the page in a printed book or click on a mobile tablet to find out what happens next. My adaptability to various artistic styles and my ability to capture the essence of a story along with my background in higher education allows me to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-digest format. I am committed to creating a captivating and enriching narrative that will resonate with young readers.
