SHIFT - A film by Chen Sing Yap. Jaklien’s entry for the Indie Film Music Contest summer 2024. “I’m very glad to hear this peice seemed to strike a chord with the director and judges of the IFMC: ” Nice song! Your production is impressive, and your musical style has a lot of character. Great work!"

While recovering from the virus myself ironically, I was inspired by the film’s rhythmic heartbeat, symbolizing both time and the protagonist’s role as a nurse. This motif reflected the film’s exploration of loneliness, guiding my instinctive approach to composition. I carefully selected sounds and chord progressions to deepen its emotional impact, and added a personal touch by using my own vocals, a decision driven purely by intuition."

Thank you so much for watching!
