Jakob Roters is a freelance cellist, performer, and studio musician who studied under Prof. Julius Berger. In 2014, he co-founded the Verworner Krause Chamber Orchestra (VKKO), and in 2015, the Paranormal String Quartet (PSQ). The two groups won numerous awards, including the main prize of the “D-Bü” competition in 2017, the Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize in 2019 and 2020, the Reload Scholarship from the German Federal Cultural Foundation in 2020, second place and the Audience Award at the Creative Music Award of the Rotary Club in 2021, and the Chemnitz Mozart Prize in 2023. He has worked with various collectives, as well as theater and opera houses, including the Bavarian State Opera, the Hauen und Stechen collective in Berlin, the August Everding Academy under Benjamin Truong, the Hidalgo collective, and Dominik Wilgenbus. He has also collaborated with many different ensembles across classical, jazz, and modern music. As a studio and live musician, he has contributed to CD releases and performances with a wide range of artists, including Die Fantastischen Vier, ENIK, Ralph Heidel, Moritz Stahl, Fiona Grond, Elias Prinz, LBT, Jazzrausch Bigband, Fiver, Nils Landgren, Rhani Krija (Sting), Gregor Hübner, Elin Rombo, Joris, and Tim Bendzko. He has also worked with film score composers such as Gerd Baumann and Jörg Pfeil, among many others. In close collaboration with composer Christopher Verworner, Jakob operates the Two Moon's Studio in Munich.
