My name is James D. Salinas and I specialize in media music, specifically for short form projects, such as commercial and indie films. More particularly, I focus my work in the American Southeast for projects with limited budgets, such as indie, student, and nonprofit media. I graduated from Nashville School of the Arts, an arts conservatory high school, in 2020 with studies in classical music, theory, and bassoon performance. I graduated from Loyola University New Orleans in 2024 with a BFA in Digital Filmmaking, studying film scoring under Grammy Award winning composer Jay Weigel. It was then I transitioned into media music. Since, I have worked on seven projects and have become an associate member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists. My background allowed me to understand both sides of the coin, better placing me in the position and needs of a project’s production team, along with comprehension of current popular practices within the industry. In the first year since beginning, I have scored five short films of varying genres along with a promotional for the Samaritan Fund Foundation. I’m excited to see what opportunities and stories the future holds! To learn more and hear my portfolio, please visit my website at jamesdsalinas.com
