Industry Experience

Professional Services, Real Estate & Construction
    Villa Huizen

Located in Huizen, this extensive villa underwent a complete transformation, including a roof elevation to accommodate an additional split-level floor. My role focused on the complete spatial layout and the design of all custom millwork and furniture, ensuring every detail was tailored to the family’s lifestyle. The client’s vision was to achieve the sophisticated atmosphere of a luxury hotel within the absolute privacy of their own home.

The floor plan is organized across multiple splitlevels, all connected by a private elevator. The home is designed for hospitality, featuring a dining area for sixteen guests and a custom-designed dining table in the kitchen with an integrated grill station. This unique feature was designed specifically for the family to grill and dine together.

The private quarters consist of five spacious ensuite guest bedrooms and a master suite that serves as a personal retreat. This suite includes a private terrace with an outdoor kitchen, a coffee and tea station, a generous walk-in closet, and a wellnessinspired bathroom equipped with a double toilet, double shower, and a two-person bath, echoing the amenities of a five-star presidential suite.

The basement serves as the ultimate entertainment hub, housing a professional bar, lounge, dining area, and a gaming zone with a pool table. To facilitate effortless hosting, a dedicated kitchen lift connects the main kitchen directly to this lower level. Finally, the basement acts as an architectural corridor to the annex, which houses a full-scale indoor spa and swimming pool, offering a year-round wellness experience.

    Canal House

Situated at the corner of the Singel and the Beulingsloot, this 190 m2 canal house is a testament to Amsterdam’s architectural heritage and modern spatial ingenuity. Occupying a corner position, the property offers an exceptional sense of privacy and light in the heart of the historic canal district.

The brief called for a lobby-like grandeur upon entry. To achieve this within the ground floor’s soaring 3.5-meter ceilings, all functional elements were integrated into a single, central “furniture piece.” This central block remains entirely detached from the ceiling and seamlessly incorporates the wardrobe, a powder room, storage space, the staircase, and a dedicated coffee corner. This strategic placement ensures the building’s original architecture remains untouched, preserving the uninterrupted rhythm of the large windows along the side canal and allowing natural light to flood the entire space. The eyecatcher of the ground floor is the kitchen at the end of the space, where two impressive islands are aligned with the exact angle of the Hungarian Point flooring.

The lower level defies the traditional “basement” feel. Because it borders the Beulingsloot directly, the souterrain enjoys a 21-meter long view over the water. With no pedestrian path outside and limited overlooking windows from across the canal, the space feels exceptionally private. This level houses the living area, an ensuite guest room, and a master suite. The master suite is situated in the building’s original warehouse section with elevated ceilings. Throughout the souterrain, the original timber beams remain exposed, preserving the building’s historic character.
