uniE621 Arts In Society 50th Anniversary Edition
A book cover redesign to celebrate the 50th anniversary edition of 'Arts In Society'. A book that delves deeper into the more pop culture side of the arts and how they can become integrated into a society. The main focus being on life in the United Kingdom during the 1960s. These collection of essays spare the reader of expected patronization often associated with reviews of the arts. The design approach for this cover was to highlight the more casual aspects of the arts and the parts of it not often thought about. The broken statue was a fitting representation as it conveys the breaking of elite barriers in the world of art. The repetition shows that, just like the subjects of the book, there is more to view about the arts. bookdesign graphicdesigner designer
    uniE621 The Crucible Poster
A poster designed for a theatre production of Arthur Miller's, 'The Crucible'. The play revolves around a fictional telling of the Salem witch trials of early colonial America. The client asked for a vector illustration for the poster. The style of paper craft was chosen as it is a perfect representation for how the play was written. The story was originally crafted as a means to criticize the mass hysteria of the McCarthy era of politics during the mid 20th century in the US. It was a response to how people were very easily accused of being Communist. graphicdesigner illustrator designer
uniE621 Faces of Power Exhibition Poster
A poster designed for the Faces of Power Exhibition. The exhibition highlights the many different 'Faces' that have gained power over the last 800 years and presents this to prospective audiences through portraits of the respective rulers. The client wished for a vector illustration on the poster and therefore it was fitting to include a portrait to the design. Therefore, showing the sudden shifts between rulers was an avenue to explore and settled on in the final design. The power dynamics of the Russian Empire shifting into the Soviet Union was decided upon. The incorporation of a paper tear highlights the fragility of power, revealing the next person in power, as well as linking back to the traditional portraits on display in the exhibit. graphicdesigner illustrator
