This entertaining and engaging story about a journey to the other side of the world is also a unique look into the world of the blind. It is the story of a man who calls himself Hungry Bison, loves Indians, and in addition to being blind from birth, his hearing is also gradually deteriorating. That is why, at the age of forty, he decided to travel from Moravia to New Mexico to find a medicine man from the Navajo tribe who might be able to help him. It is very difficult to imagine what it is like to be blind from birth, to be constantly in the dark and to be dependent only on his poor hearing, smell and touch. Such a person has to deal with constant uncertainty and fear, but at the same time he must have a different way of knowing the world. The film conveys a concentrated view of Bison, who is above all hungry for life. What can be particularly interesting about Bison is not only his disability, but his cheerfulness and incredible joy in communicating with people. We watch him prepare for his first ever trip abroad, imagining meeting real Indians and experiencing fears about the healing ritual that awaits him at the end of a long journey into the unknown. With his wife Zuzana, who accompanies him, he experiences a number of interesting encounters along the way, which carry archetypal meanings for their lives. The viewer is gradually drawn into Bison’s world through an intimate camera and in the finale experiences an almost physical experience of climbing Mount Shiprock. The film moves between black comedy and meditative observation of a person in their nudity.
