This project showcases the work of John Valcas, a visual artist and illustrator specialising in expressive caricatures, portrait illustration, and live drawing entertainment. Based in Brighton, UK, the work combines artistic skill with performance, capturing people’s personalities through dynamic line work, humour, and observation.
The project highlights several areas of artistic practice:
Live Caricature Entertainment
Creating fast, high-quality caricature portraits for guests at weddings, corporate events, festivals, and private celebrations. Each drawing is completed within minutes while interacting with guests, making the process both artistic and entertaining.
Illustration & Portrait Art
Producing personalised illustrations, caricature portraits, and character drawings for private clients, editorial use, and creative projects.
Character Design & Comics
Developing expressive characters suitable for comics, graphic storytelling, and visual narratives. The exaggerated style of caricature translates naturally into comic characters and storyboard concepts.
Storyboards & Visual Storytelling.
Sketching scenes and characters to help communicate ideas for film, animation, and creative media projects.
John’s work blends traditional drawing techniques with digital illustration tools, allowing flexibility across different creative industries. His style focuses on capturing character, emotion, and personality while maintaining strong composition and visual impact.
