Visual artist and Filmmaker born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. Based in Switzerland from 2014, active between Zurich, Geneva and Colombia, but also open for remote projects. Jonathan holds a Bachelor and a Master in Fine Arts from ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts), and a Master in Film directing from ECAL / HEAD, after studying Filmmaking at Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and Cinematography in ENS Louis Lumière in Paris. As film director and cinematographer, I am experienced working with a variety of formants, from documentary to fiction, and art-films. I have developped an international body of work in created multilingual contexts, having field experience from scriptwritting and story development, to preproduction, film shooting and postproduction in different geographic regions of the planet: in South America, such as in Colombia: Bogota and urban surroundings, caribbean and pacific coast, amazon jungle, Medellin and surroundings, etc. But also in Perú, Bolivia and Argentina; in the US: New York and Miami; in Europe: Switzerland (active both in the German and French part of the country), Germany, France, Greece, Kosovo, and also in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. Likewise, I assist artists engaging with filmmaking by editing their projects, but also in producing their films. I also enjoy collaborating with cultural institutions in the fields of contemporary arts, dance and music, as film director, cinematographer or editor. In parallel, I have worked as an independent curator for film programmes as well, with a keen attention to decolonial perspectives of the global south, revindicating neglected histories in the west, aiming fot epistemic justice, revisiting issues on memory in contexts of post-conflict, and dreaming speculatively with archaeologies of time, etc. my artistic practice is rooted in film and research through field recordings and a sensitivity for the political implications of sound, encompassing multimedia installations through the mediums of sound, film, photography and performance.
