Hi I´m José Matos and I am a Film Editor from Portugal From a very early age I got involved with this large and diverse area that is audiovisual. It all started with music, playing in a garage band in 1997. After performing on several stages, I realized that audiovisual would be my professional path. I started by studying at a professional audiovisual school, EPCI, where I graduated as an audiovisual technician in the specialty of video editing. That’s when my journey on this ‘cut and paste’ path truly began. I graduated in 2009 in Cinema from Universidade Lusófona and at the same time I was making my way in the editing area. I started on Television in 2003 in the program “Corte e Costura” (SIC Mulher) where I was camera and sound assistant. Along the way, I worked with a wide variety of national and international clients, including Coca-Cola, RTP, SIC, Microsoft, to name a few. This path that has now passed the 20 year mark has provided me with a diversity of experiences, Fiction, Advertising, Cinema, Documentary, Web, among others. Since 2011 I have been an Editor on a freelance basis. In 2019 I resumed training and to this day I am a Trainer at the Professional School, EPCI where I am responsible for monitoring the End of Course Project in Audiovisual Techniques. Outside of work, I am passionate about board games, bringing people together through boards, cards, and dice. Together with my Wife and two Friends, I organize Modern Board Games events. Turning off digital is good and our main goal is to get people talking to each other, without a device as an intermediary and spending a few hours in each other’s company, between strategies, learning and lots of fun in the mix. If you have an idea or project in mind, feel free to reach out—I’d love to hear from you!
