I am a Singapore-based artist working at the intersection of film and theatre, blending performance, choreography, and writing. My work often explores identity and community, especially across Singapore's Malay and Chinese cultures, bridging tradition and bold, experimental storytelling. I thrive on collaborative creation, where music, movement, and design come together to tell fearless stories that challenge norms and invite audiences to see themselves in unfamiliar worlds.

A Man Waiting For The Leaves to Fall

My digital theatre production features no actor or dialogue, and uses only theatre design elements to tell a story, with the intention of engaging with the audience deeper, right to their subconscious/core/emotions, by removing those “crutches”.

"My Papa passed away when I started working on this project. I realised then, that I would have to involve him into my process, and eventually he became the centrepiece. I had thought about Papa’s death long before it happened. I felt I could hear his old bones creak as I watch him grow older, weaker, more obsolete from society and from his 7 children.

I dedicate this show to anyone who has ever faced existential loneliness, been impacted by inter-generational and social gaps caused by modern society’s frantic progress, endured grief and loss, felt powerless against the inevitability of time, and had moments where solace, respite and beauty can only be found in memories.

There are no actors, no dialogue in this piece.
The ball is me, and the chair my Papa.
It is my wish that this intimate journey draws you back…to yourself.

    Sincerely,
    Judee Tan”
