2D Artist / Background Artist at CDW/Monkeystack

June 1, 2024 - August 1, 2024

As a 2D background artist I was responsible for creating production-quality background art for an upcoming adult animated comedy for Adult Swim. I was tasked with painting a wide range of internal and external 2D environments based upon pre-existing reference artwork from prior seasons of the show, pre-vis animatics and storyboards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

I worked at Princess Bento as 2D BG artist on ‘Universal Basic Guys’ for Fox/Sony. It was a fast-paced, high-volume assignment creating internal and external 2D environments in a real world- based show, requiring an emphasis on working from references of real-world locations and items. Effective time management was a necessity to consistently hit deadlines and maintain an efficient ‘animation pipeline’.

I was principal BG artist for the Legends of Meo’ShinKe series created by HwaHwa Studios for Daikyo Kids Tv. My role at HwaHwa was to take existing concepts for the world and translate that into backgrounds for the series and establish the look and feel of the world.

As a 2D background artist I was responsible for creating production-quality background art for YOLO: Silver Destiny for Adult Swim. I was tasked with painting a wide range of internal and external environments based upon pre-existing reference artwork, pre-vis animatics and storyboards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. I worked closely with the animators and series director to ensure the artwork remained consistent and continuity was adhered to through attention to detail and feedback around retakes from producers and stakeholders.

Freelancing as a 2D Artist and Illustrator for over ten years, creating bright and colourful work for a multitude of clients both within Australia and internationally. I have created art, illustration work, merchandise designs, logos, advertising material and concept work in various mediums. I have previously had the opportunity to work with Dan Bandit aka GHOSTSHRIMP (Adventure Time, Spongebob Squarepants, Midnight Gospel) creating production backgrounds, conceptual design work and visual development for animated features. Through weekly meetings and guided criticism, we achieved design solutions and production level backgrounds for animation.
