Katherina Hristova is a German-Bulgarian composer for film and media based in Los Angeles. She graduated from the Screen Scoring program at USC with a Master’s degree and holds a Bachelor degree in Composition from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK). She has recorded at stages like Warner Brothers, East West, and Hollywood Scoring and has worked with orchestras around the world, for example the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (RTVE), The Midland Sinfonia and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). Her piece "Maleficent", recorded at Warner Brothers with a 65-piece orchestra in May 2025, won 3 awards across international competitions (Golden prizes in Global Genius Competition and World Artistry Music Award Competition, and 2nd prize in the International Youth Music Competition). Katherina has a strong foundation in melodic development, storytelling and musical expression through her background in songwriting and concert music. She loves collaborating with filmmakers and animators to help bring their story alive and support their emotional subtext, and deeply treasures the sound of live musicians and orchestras. Besides composing, Katherina has also experience in arranging, orchestrating, music editing, music preparation/copying, and mixing. In addition she fosters her passion for playing the piano with which she has won 3rd prize in a prestigious German piano competition (Jugend Musiziert) in 2017.
