For years, Alaska ranked near or at the bottom among all states on national reading assessments. Since passing the Alaska Reads Act in 2022, state leaders needed to build broad support for its investment in literacy efforts by engaging communities, educators, and the legislature.
This video (solo-produced end-to-end) increased visibility and buy-in among communities, educators, and policymakers, culminating in a screening on the Alaska State Legislature floor. The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development also secured a $50M federal grant to sustain and expand literacy efforts.
Developed the script and narrative framework for a government leadership video supporting tribal consultation practices across Oregon agencies. Helped translate legal and cultural responsibilities into accessible, persuasive storytelling for government audiences. Led executive filming and production design at the Capitol in collaboration with external editing/post-production, b-roll, and tribal leader interview production partners.
As the United States further militarizes its border with Mexico, the Tohono O’odham tribe in southern Arizona grapples with the encroaching surveillance technologies being implemented on its land under the eye of an increasingly watchful Border Patrol.
Documentary produced by MediaLab, Pacific Lutheran University. Role: Executive Producer and Director of MediaLab, 2018 – 2023. Led weekly production oversight for College Emmy-winning documentary, including field production planning and supervision, story development, editorial feedback, technical mentorship, visual strategy, and festival/awards packaging.
