Konstantinos Koutroumpis is a composer and was born in Athens, Greece in 1991. He studied composition at the London College of Music, where he earned the Albert Thomas Howard Composition Award, and continued his studies at the University of Manchester. He then earned a PhD from Hong Kong BU, where he received the NC Wong Young composers award, and focused his research on acoustic ecology and how to incorporate insect ultrasounds and natural patterns into his music. He collaborates with entomologists from different parts of the world, while also acquiring his own data in the wild through field recordings of various habitats and species. Koutroumpis has earned awards, participated in festivals and collaborated with ensembles and orchestras worldwide (Austria, Argentina, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong SAR, Norway, United Kingdom) including the Tonkünstler Orchester in Austria, the Duisburger Philharmoniker in Germany, and the Stavanger Orchestra in Norway. He has also composed music for small indie films and is an avid gamer and film enthusiast. He looks forward to compose music for unique projects. He is proficient in both instrumental composition and mock-up orchestrations/ electronic composition and always aims to tailor individual sonic worlds to fit each individual project and highlight its uniqueness through music.
